It is picnic season, which means spending time with family and friends. Avoid spending that time being sick from spoiled food left in the sun by making sure you follow some simple food safety tips for a fun, healthy picnic.
- Mayo/dairy based recipes go bad quickly, keep them out of direct sun and refrigerate in under 2 hours.
- Any perishable foods should be kept cold/ on ice. See the picture for a “cool” (get it!?) way to keep your foods cold.
- Try to set up foods in a shady location or indoors if possible.
- Follow the 2-hour rule: Bring all cold and hot foods inside and refrigerate them within 2 hours of serving.
